Nearly 2 decades ago my family and I sold up...packed up and shipped out of South London. We headed West to a delightfully quirky and creative market town called Frome.

My artistic journey began in the realms of Fashion Design, where I immersed myself in the industry in London, travelling extensively around the world with my job.

After 10 years I decided to step away from this hectic life, firstly to focus on raising my son who had just arrived and then in time to dedicate myself fully to painting.

My primary medium is oil paint although I enjoy incorporating mixed media elements into my work, particularly those that interact with light.

Light is a central theme in my paintings, particularly how weather conditions can change the whole look and feel of a landscape. My main inspiration comes from sea and sky scapes but living surrounded by the stunning Somerset countryside has naturally lead to the inclusion of local landscapes in my repertoire, and I have dedicated significant time to capturing the essence and beauty of clouds which captivate me with their ethereal qualities.

Due to the reflective qualities of some of the materials I use in my work, my paintings evolve throughout the day, constantly being transformed according to the changing light conditions.

I rarely work from photographs as I feel they can restrict me, preferring to gather inspiration from the natural world, my memories and of course my imagination with the odd flight of fancy thrown in for good measure.

I love it when people view my work and can ‘recognise’ and connect with the images I have portrayed even though they may well be from parts of this amazing country I have yet to visit. This connection adds an extra layer of meaning to my work, bridging the gap between my imagination and the experiences of others.

As an artist, my journey has been one of exploration and adaptation. Initially I found my comfort zone in work on large canvases, immersing myself in expansive spaces that allowed for bold expressions and marks.

However during lockdown down a shift occurred. I came across a packet of postcard size art boards, which challenged me to rethink my approach to space and composition within a much more confined format. this serendipitous discovery lead me to the creation of a series called ‘Postcards from the Studio’ Each piece was inspired by places I have visited or dreamt of visiting, yet found myself unable to do because of the restrictions. These small scale paintings not only captured my experiences and aspirations but also resonated deeply with other people.

The ‘Postcards from the Studio’ series continues to this day and remains extremely popular with those viewing my work.

No matter what the size or the subject matter I always endeavour to add an element of hope in my art, because no matter how long the night or how dark the clouds the light shines on and hope remains.

I do hope you enjoy the website.
