This is a new range of smaller framed pieces that grew out of my original postcard project, (see below)
I continue to enjoy working on a smaller format and I hope you like the results.
About 2 years ago I bought a packet of 10 canvas boards, to be honest I wasn’t sure if I would ever get around to using them and if I did whether I would enjoy it as I normally gravitate towards a much larger format, but….I did and…I did.
So for the last 6 months I have been working on a variety of images all within the confines of a 7 x 5 inch postcard sized canvas board.
It has been an interesting project which I have really enjoyed. I am not sure how long I will continue to work in this format but for now it captivates and inspires me.
I find myself drawn to the whole idea and excitement that often surrounds the sending and receiving of a postcard. Messages from far away, someone you know and perhaps love reaching out to you, sharing their experiences. The space is limited so every word/brushstroke has to count, but it must be quality not quantity. My inspiration normally is mostly drawn from imagination interwoven with memories. Maybe its because we can’t physically travel very far at the moment sending and receiving real postcards from actual places that these restrictions have enhanced my flights of fancy, engaging me even more. I really hope you enjoy this first selection.
I wonder what your lockdown postcard looks like?
